Friday is a great day for reintroductions! Let me tell you about the colorful world behind my balloons. I’m Ty—owner, designer, and the hands-on operator at Jules Inflated Creations. If you shout “Jules” across the room, I’ll definitely turn around! It’s a nickname I’ve embraced. Jules is actually my daughter, Julia, the spark behind this whole venture. Family is my everything: Julia, my son Christian, my husband Kurt, and Annabelle, our heroic dog who seems to have adopted us rather than the other way around. I thrive on challenges and change, navigating life’s unexpected twists like a pro. There’s something special about adding a burst of joy to life’s big moments with balloons— and seeing people’s reactions to that just makes my heart sing! My journey took a romantic detour in Brazil, where I met Kurt during his “once-in-a-lifetime” adventure—that was 20 years ago, and he’s still on that trip! Back in Brazil, I was a TV reporter, but moving to the US meant reinventing myself. From medical interpreting to personal training, to cake designing, and now juggling ad operations with balloon artistry—I dive deep into everything I do. I don’t post much about my personal life on this profile, but once in a while, I love to share the most meaningful parts of my world all around. Meet my husband and business partner, Kurt. Without this guy, I wouldn’t be here today, I wouldn’t have the confidence I do now. For 21 years, he’s been empowering me, as a woman, as a mom, as an entrepreneur. We’ve navigated through highs and endured very frightening lows. I was told once that I would never be the same after some crazy health scares. He stood by me, helped me rise, dust myself off, and prove the doctors wrong. His integrity and compassion are beyond my comprehension and his love just keeps growing unconditionally. He’s the best father I could ever dream of for my children. I know if I left this world today, he would still take the best care of them, like we do together. We are complete opposites. He’s an introvert, so quiet and discreet, funny, has an unfathomable level of patience, kindness and forgiveness running in his blood. (Swipe and see!)We were introduced by a friend when I was a cake designer and Divina was shopping for a cake for her wedding. Everything worked out great! Fast forward a few years, at the end of 2022, Divina fell in love with the NYE balloon pop drops and got a few for her restaurant. Not long after that, her son Isaac was turning one, and I was so happy to be part of it with a jungle themed display. The pop drops were such a hit that she came back for more this past NYE and, just like before, we soon connected after, for Isaac’s second birthday. And here we are again! Her energy is incredible. A Tale of Balloons and Unexpected Connections. Last night I went to Suburban Hospital to take this rainbow arch down. Barely did I know that I’d be confronted by some seriously upset customers. It was right after visiting hours ended, so families were leaving after spending time their loved ones. That’s when it happened. Those individuals walked towards me with the most disappointed look in their eyes. Not just one. THREE. One after another. Just minutes apart. They stopped me from taking the display down and asked the EXACT same question: “What are you doing???” Me: “I need to take this down tonight.” They locked eyes with me, it was like a knife in my soul: “BUT WHY???? Why are you taking the balloons down?” I could see the pain in their little eyes. And I felt it too. It was almost like they knew how much labor was “over the rainbow”. Or maybe they thought patients needed it to be there longer. My balloon artist heart melted and all I could say was “thank you for appreciating it so much. There will be more, I promise” They lowered their heads while their parents took them away with a loving smile. A couple of them took a few 5” balloons with them, all they could fit in their tiny hands. Shortly after, a couple walked out pushing an elderly lady on her wheelchair. She was so fragile. They stopped to show her the balloons. I asked if she would like some. And she whispered “yes” . I gave her one of each color. They were so grateful for the joy the balloons were going to bring to their nursing home residents. No balloons this week. This is my little guy, Christian, Jules’ brother. He is one smart little cookie and so incredibly shy that I was shocked when he told me he was going to sing BY HIMSELF at his school’s talent show, on his very first appearance. I was probably more nervous than him, but my heart exploded with pride to see him taking that step, and blowing all the barriers of his comfort zone. And that, my friends, is why nothing will ever keep me from trying something new. What a lesson.
